Program Goals - To provide community based home visitation services across the community utilizing Parents as Teachers evidence-based curriculum and certified educators structured to:
- Promote the well being of children and families
- Increase the strength and stability of families
- Increase the confidence level of parents
- Build competence in parenting abilities
- Assist in providing a safe, stable and supportive family environment
- Assess and detect developmental delays
- Improve school readiness
- Reduce the number of low birth weight babies and encourage early onset of prenatal care
- Increase community awareness on healthy early childhood development and the importance of parents as their child’s first and most influential teacher
- Align parents with community resources available to assist them in their parenting roles
- Eliminate barriers and enhance access to services and appropriate referrals
Program Eligibility:
- Services are provided to families without regard to economic status
- Services are provided at no charge to families
- Families must live in Lubbock or Crosby County
- Families are expecting children or have children within the age range of 0-to Kindergarten entry
How do parents access services?
- Services are offered to families with the family’s input
- Self Referral- Parents may call the Parenting Cottage
- Referral from any community agency
